An age ago

Self-discoveryI sit and listen to my heart beat. Thump once, thump twice. It sometimes lulls me into brilliant ecstasy, but it typically has an adverse effect. It usually taunts me, mocking me with every rhythmic tap. "You aren't good enough." It patronizes me. One thing always remains the same, this organ is the metronome to my life. I live and breathe by it. I make every decision based on this dependent beat. And when it swells with love, it beats a little quicker, putting pep in my step and a smile on my face.
